About

Nicole is a British/Guyanese artist based in London whose work specialises in watercolour & ink, and gouache paintings, blending realist and abstract art styles. Her artwork intends to capture an impressionistic viewpoint sometimes with a political narrative or message. Nicole skilfully explores a diverse range of vibrant colours and materials in her creative practice. Her abstract realism artwork is an infusion of the elements of design with the depiction of real life.

Artist Statement

Nicole's art practice is currently focused on The Artist Book. She also works in graphic design; illustration projects have included book covers, editorial illustrations, collage posters, character design, and typography.

Nicole's practice includes an element of urgency, in that she will make art in response to specific annual events, e.g., International Women's Day, World Afro Day, and Black History Month.

Nicole also uses art and design concepts to explore her cultural heritage stemming from British and Guyanese origins. This grounded approach provides a rich landscape in which to draw upon and play with.

Nicole started her art journey in 2015 and charts the full story on the
'Videos' page in a four-part series of YouTube videos.
